Discovering Fishers

Discovering Fishers is a website with three objectives.

1. First, it is intended to be a resource for Fishers residents to learn more about their community, what makes it unique, and how to discover new ways to enjoy the place where they live.
2. Second, it is a reference implementation of the Mapping plugin and theme, an extension to the Wordpress publishing platform. The Mapping plugin is being developed as part of a project for the Engineering Management program at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
3. Third, it will be a resource explaining how other communities can set up a similar service for their own use.

These objectives are being pursued simultaneously, so this website will be rapidly changing through the end of the project timeline, near November 2008. As of summer 2008, much of the work is being done “under the hood,” after which more visible content updates will appear more frequently.

Technical documentation on the Mapping plugin and theme is being prepared, and will be presented on this website along with the plugin itself for others to reuse.
